…But he didn’t. He put the ring on my finger and kissed me. It was perfect.

The next two weeks went by in a blur. Between announcing our engagement, everyone wanting to check out “the ring”, a new puppy and life in general, we were a busy couple. When the day of our engagement photos finally arrived, I couldn’t believe that it had already been two weeks since our official engagement!

We had a blast throughout our engagement session! It was snowy out, but that really just contributed to the pictures. They turned out beautifully – I couldn’t have asked for anything better!

After our photo shoot, we decided to go look at new vehicles. Ricky really needed a new truck – Big Black, his favorite truck, just wasn’t going to be fixable. And yes, it was a truck with a name. What can I say, it held a lot of meaning to my soon-to-be hubby! While we were at the dealership, Ricky told me that if we were getting a truck, we might as well get a new SUV for me at the same time. After all, if we were going to start trying for a baby the following month then I was going to need a new vehicle. He didn’t think my pint sized SUV was safe enough to carry around that kind of precious cargo! And besides…there’s no way I could’ve fit a baby, Lucy AND a stroller into that little thing.

All of a sudden I felt myself being caught up into a whirlwind of emotion – everything was happening FAST. That was alright, we were both very sure of what we wanted and I absolutely could not have been more excited for the direction our lives were going in. But a new puppy, getting engaged, trying to have a baby AND new vehicles within the span of a few weeks just finally hit me in the head. Ready or not, life was moving forward. I realized that I could either go with it or continue to stand there, stunned at the turn my life had taken in a little over eight short months.

I made a split second decision to go with our happiness and see what happened. And I haven’t looked back since.

…To be continued…
