I feel like this summer went by in a blur. Way faster than any other summer before. That’s either because more kids = time moves faster, or I’m just getting old.
Or it could totally be a combination of the two.
Last weekend I cleaned out the boys’ closets, tossing all the “too small” clothes into a storage bin in our basement, replacing them with the freshly washed, adorable fall clothes that they’ll be wearing for the next few months. I was so excited to order all of these sweet little outfits, but I have to admit that it was a little bittersweet. I mean, where did the summer GO?
There’s one thing that I can tell you for SURE: time with Christopher seems to be going way faster than it ever did with Ricky. That I know is because he’s not our first. All of a sudden he’s rolling over like a pro, attempting to army crawl across the floor (and getting super pissed off when he can’t…) and actually sitting up on his own. He’s only four and a half months old! How does time go this fast???
And Ricky started preschool last week. PRESCHOOL! When did I become the mom of a preschooler?? I know that I technically had a whole summer to adjust and prepare, but honestly, I almost had a mini-heart attack when we went to back-to-school night, and my kid had a whole preschool handbook for us to go through. Surely, he can’t be this old already?
The one thing that’s on my side is that both of them are thriving. They’re loving life, and eating up every day. They’re learning new stuff every single day. My dad calls them the two happiest kids he’s ever met – and he’s right. Ricky and Christopher are two awesome little boys. I’m lucky to be their mom!
But sometimes, I just wish that time would slow down a little bit here. Just for a few days, so that I can soak it all in a little more. Preferably on the weekend.
Alright, alright. Too much to ask. I’ll settle for a few weekdays, if I have to.
But seriously, guys, how do you cope with your kiddos growing up so darn fast?? Tell me in the comments, cause with how fast my own kids are growing up, this mama’s going to start suffering from whiplash pretty soon!
